                                   Teen Interaction

"I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots." This quote was said by Albert Einstein. Technology already is making a big, positive impact on the world; but is technology blocking the ability of human interaction.

Teens are getting more and more afraid to talk to each other. Meaning the future won't have the skill of communication. Statistics show that 92% of people spend 4 hours or more a week on the phone have trouble speaking in front of an crowd. Statistics also show that 60% of people that text more than 60 messages a week have trouble talking to new people.

In 2010 the percentage of teens that have cell phone was 45%. But now in 2015 75% of teens have a cell phone. In 2010 the average teen texted 70 texts a week. But now in 2015 the average teens texts 834 texts per week. So, this problem is increasing year by year.

Teens are not able to communicate with each other and the problem is only getting bigger. Parents need to aware teens about this situation. If the problem is still increasing parents need to put a limit on either the time on the phone or the number of texts the teen sends.Someone needs to do something about this problem and fast if we don't solve this the future generation will be a group of robots unable to interact with each other.

Lockdown Lifts at HMS

On April 30, 2014 Heritage Middle School and Emerson Elementary School had a lockdown that lasted about 35-40 minutes after regular school dismissal. A student told authorities that there was a gun in the school.
Students were in homeroom either reading, doing homework or talking to friends when the assistant principal announced their was a hard lockdown. Students were "frightened" after they saw police lights in front of the building. The hard lockdown lasted between 25-30 minutes and ended right before school was supposed to end. After the hard lockdown their was a soft lock down where authorities look through all of the students lockers for any guns that lasted after school dismissal.
The soft lock down finished at around 3:40 and students were able to have relief at this time. The students remained safe and unharmed at this time. Police stayed outside in front of the building just in case they missed the gun and someone did have it during school. But, at the end of the day the school checked out okay.
